Biography

I have been privileged to serve the citizens of Bishopville SC for the past fifteen years in the capacity of a Law enforcement professional. As such, I live out the concept of Community Policing. I have sought out and established close relationships with many and varied members of our community including citizens, government officials, school officials, as well as business owners. I consider it my duty and honor to serve them, maintain their trust and continually earn their respect. As the Chief and member of the Bishopville community, I pledge to continue these relationships and look forward to encouraging our police officers to become even more connected to the citizens we are privileged to serve.
The most rewarding responsibility I have is strengthening my faith with Christ our Savior and having the honor of upholding a great relationship with Him so that I can continue to use that to be a better husband and fathert.  Entailed in being a father, I also share my duties as a husband with my beautiful wife and I enjoy the moments that can never be replaced when it comes to maintaining the titles of parents. My main reason for continuing with my career in public safety is to positively impact my community and help to provide a safe environment in which my family and the citizens I serve can live and interact with each other in an effective and efficient manner.I have actively pursued professional growth opportunities by attending leadership and professional development courses. March 15, 2013 I completed the first phase of the Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI) Command College. April 18th 2014 I completed the Chiefs School at the South Carolina Criminal Justice Academy. I have also attended numerous police supervisory and management courses.  I am looking forward to pursuing my Master's degree in the Criminal Justice field in an effort to gain more knowledge about the policing commands, procedures, and demographics of various areas to help not only myself but my officers build to become more than just a police unit for legality purposes, but Law Enforcement officers that understand the use of certain methods displayed and the knowledge of understanding the governmental policies as well as our community as a whole.

The experience I have gained as a Twenty year veteran of the United States Army National Guard (1994 till Present) has served me well in my capacity as a Law Enforcement professional. The maturity and discipline I have is directly attributed to my military training. My experience as a combat veteran in Operation Iraqi Freedom (2003-2005) has been invaluable to me in my professional career. I am confident in my ability to make difficult command decisions "under fire."
I am also actively engaged in various organizations. I serve as a volunteer Fire fighter with the Lee County Fire service station 11. Since 1998  I have been an active member of the Damascus Lodge #62 in Kershaw SC as a Master Mason. As of May 2014 I am a new member of the Bishopville LIONS club.  With honor and integrity I serve with the South Carolina Army National Guard 351st Aviation Support Battalion in Sumter SC as the new, acting First SGT. In addition, I currently volunteer with the YWCA in Sumter SC and a member of the Mt. Zion Baptist Church located in Heath Springs SC since Christ was introduced in to my life.  I also continue to uphold myself in a professional manner in the community, from my home town, to various areas that I have worked in by giving back to the community through expressing many talents as providing social entertainment, hair cuts, and assisting various agencies with their work. I am devoted not only to myself but to my community, family, and most of all the citizens of every community that I come in contact with.
